Kelli C Davis's is the principal and executive consultant for Davis Healthcare Consulting. Her healthcare career spans over nearly three decades and includes experience in acute care, public health, research design, accreditation preparation, performance measurement, study design and implementation, data analysis, medical management and continuous quality improvement facilitation.
As principal of Davis Healthcare Consulting, Davis 's strategic approach to improving health plan performance has significantly benefited her clients who as a result, have received national recognition for their achievements. After consulting with Kelli Davis, one client was ranked in the 2008 U.S. News and World Report's Top 10 Commercial Health Plans while another was ranked in the Top 10 Medicare Plans.
Davis has been involved with NCQA's Health Plan and Employer Data Information Set (HEDIS ® ) since the beginning as a member of the HEDIS ® Report Card Pilot Steering Committee in 1992. Under her direction, Davis led the one of the first HEDIS ® projects for Prudential Healthcare in 1993 with over thirty health plans decreasing the data collection and reporting from two years to just under six months and saving the company over $5 million dollars.
Her leadership and expertise were again evident when Davis led healthcare organizations through over 45 accreditation surveys with successful outcomes. In 2000-2001, she facilitated four national continuous quality improvement activities using multi-disciplinary healthcare teams that produced statistically significant improvements in member satisfaction rates as measured by organizations' Consumer Assessment of Health Plans (CAHPs ® ) results and HEDIS ® rates. The final result was higher levels of accreditation with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
She has been published in peer-review journals such as Public Health Reports and quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, and Atlanta Business Weekly . She served on several Merck and Pharmacia Quality Improvement panels, the NCQA's HEDIS User's Group Steering Committee and several ad-hoc committees for the Pacific Business Group on Health. She is a member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality.
Ms. Davis is known for her exceptional research and CQI skills. Her ability to analyze data and identify barriers to improvement or causes for poor performance goes beyond accreditation requirements resulting in organizations ability to implement cost-effective, evidence based solutions for improvement.
Offering a rare blend of epidemiological expertise and leadership, Kelli designed and implemented health outcomes studies in Pennsylvania , American Samoa and Massachusetts while serving as a commissioned officer with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. These studies resulted in public health policy recommendations for each region evaluated. Her achievements were recognized with both the prestigious U.S. Public Health Service Outstanding Unit Citation and the U.S. Public Health Service Unit Citation awards for her work in study design and implementation.
Davis has worked with organizations such as AMERIGROUP, Cleveland Clinic Health System, Area Agency on Aging, GlaxcoSmithKline, SummaCare Inc., Health Net of California and the Northeast, Independence Blue Cross, AmeriHealth, Prudential HealthCare, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Indian Health Service.
Ms. Davis received her Master of Public of Health from California State University-San Jose with honors in Epidemiology and Program Planning and Evaluation. Davis earned the prestigious Six Sigma Black Belt certificate. S he received her Lean training, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification from the Juran Institute. |
